Work #1 held in 2005 and curated by Bas Vroege, explored historical and contemporary representations of shifting social and economic models situations and ‘work’, and the photographer’s role in visualising important global changes.  The speakers included: Magnum photographer Susan Meiselas who reflected upon her projects in Kurdistan and with the Dani tribe of Papua; Jean-Francois Chevrier, eminent art historian who was instrumental in the development of the Mission Photographique de la DATAR; Professor David Campbell academic and researcher in visual culture; Tim Strangleman, Senior Research Fellow at the Working Lives Institute; and the late Murray Martin, film-maker and founding member of AmberSide.
