Finnish photographer Tuomo Manninen was invited to make new work in France hosted by Les Rencontres d’Arles.
The body of work he produced ‘Nous/We’ explores groups of people who work together in small businesses in Paris. The businesses Tuomo chose to work with are those which are visually or socio-historically linked to the Paris of the 14th Century, representing the cyclical continuity of work, rather than change.
These highly theatrical portraits, link people often through dress, but importantly through pose to reflect the social dynamics at play and combine the individuals with the architecture around them.
‘Nous/We’ has been exhibited in France, Finland and the Netherlands.
