Luigi Gariglio

Italian photographer Luigi Gariglio was selected to undertake a commission based in Jyvaskyla, central Finland.

The work,  ‘2am in Finland’ combines a series of portraits of progenitors of family businesses (which account for 75% of companies in Finland) and text they provided, alongside re-photographed images of the founder family members.    The works were shot at 2am in the midst of Finnish countryside during the winter and summer months, reflecting changing light conditions and allowing for a more intimate and personal relationship between photographer and subject to develop, as reflected in the gaze of participants.

‘2am’ has been exhibited in the Netherlands, Finland, Spain and Italy.
